From the Bride:

How we met
It all began on March 22nd 2009…

I was invited as a friend’s date to Adam’s 20-something birthday party in Corona Del Mar, CA.  When I was introduced to the birthday boy, there was an instant attraction.  He was charming, stylish, and a true gentleman.  I was the only girl in the room (even with his 20+ friends at the party).  He was already gaining kudos.  I learned of his love for ballroom dancing, snowboarding, dirt biking, surfing, dove hunting and much more.  This guy was a jack-of-all-trades and true adventurer.  I was intrigued.

It took us 2 full years to reconnect.  I took a leap of  faith after a dramatic relationship ended.  I went on the best dating website I knew, Facebook!!  I sent a message to Adam coyly asking if he was around to meet up for cocktails.  He immediately wrote back, and we went out the next evening.  We have been inseparable ever since.

The rest is history, we were engaged on June 22, 2013 in beautiful Santa Barbara at the Bacara Resort and Spa.  He ‘Pretty Womanized” me the entire weekend with a surprise  get-away.  With many things to celebrate, my upcoming birthday and new job, I was clueless to say the least.  I mean…he gifted me with my favorite Valentino Rock Stud kitten heels!! What else could a girl want.  The evening continued with a photo shoot on the beach with the perfect sunset ( I’m a sucker for a glam-beach photo sesh and capturing my new shoes were must for Instagram that evening.)  While posing Adam dropped to his knee and gave me the biggest surprise and best memory of my life.  The evening concluded with dinner on State Street and Bruno Mars “I think I wanna Marry you” playing over our table filled with roses.

Planning our wedding…

It took almost 2 years to plan our magical wedding day.  I became unemployed during the time and started my own wedding blog to capture all the challenges and inspiration a new bride goes through.  I must admit that the venue is the hardest decision when beginning the wedding planning process.   We took our time and in the meantime we had 2 engagement parties to keep the celebration going.   One in downtown Kansas City on the Plaza (my hometown) and the other at Newport Beach Vineyards ( our current home).  We kept joking with friends and family that we would get married in Mexico to keep it intimate and low key.  Little did we know that all our friends and family loved this idea and it turned into a 105 people celebrating in our favorite place.  With my husbands surfer California vibe and my love for the water and palm trees, Cabo San Lucas was our dream destination.

I attempted one of the biggest duties a bride could take on.  Being the wedding planner and event designer for my event.  I am obsessed with everything wedding and follow over 300 blogs daily for inspiration.  I wanted a wedding that was unique yet traditional, glamorous yet carefree, whimsical and also romantic.  I tend to be a perfectionist and my expectations are as high as the clouds, so I knew I had to do the job on my own in order not to disappoint.   It was one of the most challenging but exciting opportunities of my life!  I lived for every morning to wake up and check my emails for something inspiring from my vendors and designers.  It was like Christmas every day!

I researched and scoured the internet for the best of the best in the industry when it came to destination Cabo weddings.  I spent hours online, talking on Skype, and interviewing in person during my 3 ( YES 3!!) trips to Cabo to plan.   I found my wedding suite designer (all my amazing paper goods) Corina from my favorite graphic design blog, Cocorrina.  She lives in Greece and we communicated only through email to create the incredible one-of-a-kind Mexican whimsy stationary.  My printing guru was Nichole at Nic. Roc. Designs, who had an eye for the innovative details.  With all her acrylic and laser cut goodies  my mouth watered to finally see them in action.  During a trip to Cabo I met Tracy and Lola  from Lazy Gourmet Rentals and Florenta Flowers, I immediately feel in love with them.  My amazing photographer Sara Richardson was the first person I found and hired.  She was my sensei through it all and encouraged me weekly with support and ideas.  And of course Martha, the head of wedding event and coordination at Cabo Surf Hotel.  She was the glue that brought everything to life.  I had my entourage!!

During the planning process I took on a new endeavor in my career accepting an offer with the West Coast office at Christian Dior.  I heavily started to rely on my vendors more and more.  These women became my closet confidants, friends, and venting punching bags over the last year and a half.  The one thing I learned to take away was…trust in the people you hired!  They GET YOU and want to make this moment an absolute dream for you.  It was hard for me to let go.  But as every bride says on her big day, “ I couldn’t have imagined it more perfectly!”  All my details came together one by one.  Mexico was a feat to say the least when it comes to custom design and creating a unique experience.  I personally hand-carried and recruited my F&F to fly with all my props and decor:  108 maracas, 80 pink drinking goblets, multiple 5ft laser cut signs, 55 acrylic name tiles, 110 goodie bags, 18ft aisle runner, and 30ft of papel picado…just to name a few.

Our wedding was a PARTY!! to say the least.  It felt like a 30 minute dream it went so quickly.  Our friends and family spent the entire week with us at our boutique resort, Cabo Surf Hotel.  We danced the nights away at Squid Row and spent our days in the sun and sand.  The festivities started with a beach-chic smore’s bonfire and a tropical-glam rehearsal dinner at Hacienda Cocina.   The wedding night was pure magic.  Thanks to the incredible Kilometro band, our guests were on the dance floor from the minute Adam and I made our grand entrance.  I had to beg them to head to the beach for the epic sparkler photo I wanted so badly.  No one wanted to go home the next day and we all plan to make a reunion trip next year to Cabo Surf Hotel.  It was beyond my wildest dreams.  Bringing over 10 different groups of friends and family from 7 different states and multiple cities it was like we had all known each other for a lifetime. (Cabo must have something in that water of theirs.)  I cried the entire plane ride home and look at my wedding photos every single day.  It was the perfect way to start Adam’s and I’s life adventure together, because true love is the greatest adventure.
